Emilia Romagna, the most food inclined Italian region, fast cars & magnificient Milan

1° day BOLOGNA

Arrive in Bologna and meet with your English-speaking assistant. Bologna is the largest city and the of the Emilia Romagna Region in Northern Italy and it is seventh most populous city. Transfer to the hotel and brief introduction to the city. Hotel check-in, dinner and overnight.

Hotel breakfast and then start the walking guided tour of Bologna. The city, the first settlements of which date back to at least 1000 BC, has always been an important urban center, first under the Etruscans and the Celts, then under the Romans, then again in the Middle Ages, as a free municipality (for one century it was the fifth largest European city based on population). Home to the oldest University in the world, founded in 1088, Bologna hosts thousands of students who enrich the social and cultural life of the city. Famous for its towers and lengthy porticoes, it has a well-preserved historical center (one of the largest in Italy) thanks to a careful restoration and conservation policy. During the walking tour, we will stop by and visit some of the most traditional culinary shops in town, which take pride in a very long tradition going back many generations, selling cheese, charcuterie, sweets and cakes. Lunch at your leisure and continue to Maranello, which embodies the myth of the “red cars”: here in 1943 was founded the most prestigious car industry in the world, Ferrari, a symbol of high technology, innovation and technical know-how. Stop and visit the Ferrari Museum. Completely renovated and now with more exhibition space, it anticipates the museum of the future: not just a collection from the past, but an extraordinary experience of the world of Ferrari, where the  historical cars and history are the tool to be able to relate to today’s models, Formula 1 content and technology and the outlook towards the future. This experience is channeled through cars, big screens and films, interactive tools such as the explanation of the Grand Prix pit wall and the possibility to act as a Formula 1 driver through of a semi-professional simulator. Return to your hotel, dinner in a typical restaurant to enjoy the excellent local cuisine. Hotel overnight.

3° day BOLOGNA

Hotel breakfast and morning dedicated to the visit of a Parmigiano Reggiano cheese factory, known as “The King of Cheese”. You will get the chance to see all the production phases and you will also be offered the possibility to buy Parmigiano Reggiano directly from the producer. Lunch at your leisure and then head to Modena, home of the Balsamic Vinegar, a locally produced vinegar boasting unique characteristics and preciousness. Dating back to the Middle Ages, the production of balsamic vinegar is mentioned in a document dated 1046. During the Renaissance, it was appreciated in the House of Este, and today the traditional balsamic vinegar is highly valued by chefs and food lovers from all over the world. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight.
