1° day ROME

Arrival in Rome and meet with English speaking assistant. Rome is the capital of Italy and of the Lazio Region. Rome’s history spans more than 2500 years, since its legendary founding in 753 BC and it’s one of the oldest continuously occupied cities in Europe. It is referred to as “The Eternal City”, a notion expressed by ancient Roman poets and writers. In the ancient world it was successively the capital city of the Roman Kingdom, the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire, and is regarded as one of the birthplaces of Western civilization. Since the 1st century AD, Rome has been considered the seat of the Papacy and in the 8th century, it became the capital of the Papal States, which lasted until 1870. In 1871 Rome became the capital of the Kingdom of Italy, and in 1946 that of the Italian Republic. Transfer to hotel and check-in. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

2° day ROME

Hotel breakfast. Meet with English speaking assistant for a full day guided tour of Rome. Rome’s history spans more than 2500 years, since its legendary founding in 753 BC and it is referred to as “The Eternal City”. In the ancient world it was successively the capital city of the Roman Kingdom, the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire, and is regarded as one of the birthplaces of Western civilization. See the Palatine, the Vatican, the Roman Forum, the Coliseum, the Baths of Caracalla, Piazza di Spagna, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. Dinner and overnight in hotel.


Hotel breakfast and leave for Pompeii and see how the life was before the volcano hit: the alleys, the town forum, the bakery, the spas, the homes, a perfect reconstruction of family life at that time. Lunch at your leisure. In the afternoon guided tour of Naples, the capital of the Italian region Campania and the third-largest municipality in Italy, after Rome and Milan. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. Bronze Age Greek settlements were established in the Naples area in the second millennium BC. Check-in at hotel. Dinner and overnight.


Hotel breakfast. Transfer to the pier where you will embark on the ferry to Capri, one of the most spectacular islands on the Mediterranean Sea, right in front of the Sorrentine Peninsula. Enchanting and picturesque, Capri is an island made of limestone rock. A favorite with Roman emperors, the rich and famous, artists, and writers, it’s still one of the Mediterranean’s must-see places. The island’s top attraction is the famous Blue Grotto, Grotta Azzurra. Lemon trees, flowers, and birds are abundant and altogether provide that special Capri atmosphere. Spend the whole day on the island where you will have a panoramic tour and lunch on your own. You will also enjoy some spare time to do some shopping in the small boutique shops that the world’s jetsetters love so much. Return back to the mainland, dinner and overnight at your hotel.


Hotel breakfast. Panoramic excursion to the Costiera Amalfitana, a stretch of coastline on the southern coast of the Salerno Gulf with stops in Amalfi and Sorrento. The Amalfi Coast is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as a cultural landscape. Lunch at your leisure. In the late afternoon, leave from Naples to Palermo in Sicily leave by ferryboat. Dinner at your leisure. Cabin accommodation on board.

6° day PALERMO

Breakfast at your leisure on board. Morning arrival in Palermo and, on arrival, panoramic tour of this city, located in the northwest of the island of Sicily, right by the Gulf of Palermo in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Hotel check-in, dinner and overnight.


Hotel breakfast. In the morning, half day guided tour of Palermo. Its original name (Panormus) means large port and it was a meeting point between East and West.
You will see the Cathedral, which houses the tomb of the Norman Kings and the Swabian Emperor Frederick II, and the Church of San Giovanni degli Eremiti. Restaurant lunch and depart to Monreale, to visit the astonishing Duomo, which, thanks to its mosaics, is often called “The eighth wonder of the world”. Return to Palermo, dinner and overnight in the hotel.

8° day PALERMO

Hotel breakfast. Continue the guided tour of Palermo by visiting the Royal Palace (or Norman Palace) with the Palatine Chapel and the Capuchin Catacombs (Palermo's Capuchin Monastery outgrew its original cemetery in the 16th century and monks began to excavate crypts below it). Restaurant lunch and, in the afternoon, see the St Rosalie Sanctuary. Return to your hotel, dinner and overnight.


Hotel breakfast. Leave Palermo and head towards the northern coast of Sicily. Stop in Cefalù. Of greek foundation, it is a lively and beautiful town, as well as a major tourist attraction in Sicily, right at the very foot of the Monte Madonie. Restaurant lunch and panoramic tour with the inclusion of the Norman cathedral. Continue towards the Messina area, hotel check-in, dinner and overnight.


Hotel breakfast. Head towards Milazzo and embark on a cruise to explore the Aeolian Islands, a volcanic archipelago named after the demigod of the winds Aeolus, a World Heritage UNESCO Site. The largest island is Lipari, and the other smaller islands are Vulcano, Salina, Stromboli, Filicudi, Alicudi, Panarea and Basiluzzo. Restaurant lunch. Evening return to Milazzo and to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.


Hotel breakfast.  Leave for the Ionic coast and the world famous Naxos Bay, site of the first Greek colony in Italy. Reach the Taormina coast with spectacular views of the Etna and the Calabrian Coast. Restaurant lunch and visit Taormina, one of the most beautiful towns in Italy, with its Hellenic theatre, Piazza Corvaja and the beautiful Arab Tower. Hotel check-in in the Catania Area, dinner and overnight.


Hotel breakfast. Full day excursion to Mount Etna, the largest and the tallest active volcano in Europe. It lies above the convergent plate margin between the African Plate and the Eurasian Plate. It covers an area of 1,190 km2 (459 sq mi) with a basal circumference of 140 km. You will reach the Sapienza Refuge Area by cable car reaching an elevation of over 2000 meters. Lunch is included and you will have free time for a personal discovery of these amazing surroundings and scenery. Return to Catania and panoramic tour of this city located right at the foot of the Volcano. See Piazza Duomo, the very heart of Catania and Villa Bellini, with the beautiful gardens. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.


Hotel breakfast. Depart to Siracusa, rich in historical findings, a city divided into 2 parts: Ortigia Island (the ancient center) and Neapolis, the archeological site. See the Greek theatre, Latomie, the artificial Cave called “Dionysus’s Ear” and the Roman amphitheater dating from the 3rd Century AD. Restaurant lunch during the sightseeing.
Late afternoon transfer to Ragusa. Hotel check-in, dinner and overnight.


Hotel breakfast. Start your day with a stop in Caltagirone, a typically Baroque town, and then continue towards Piazza Armerina, one of the most important archeological sites in Sicily. About 3 km from where the town is presently situated, visit Villa Casale, a Roman villa adorned with astonishing mosaics from the Roman Imperial Period.
Restaurant lunch and transfer to Agrigento. Hotel check-in, dinner and panoramic by night tour. Overnight


Hotel breakfast. Full day guided tour of the valley of Temples with lunch included. The Valley of Temples boasts one of the greatest treasures that Greek civilization created in the ancient city of Acreages, during its most glorious period (5th Century B.C.) The most important temples are dedicated to the goddesses Juno and Concordia, to the Legend of Hercules, to Olympic Jupiter and the twins Castor and Pollux. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight.


Hotel breakfast.  Depart towards the Sciacca Region and Selinunte, with stop in Caltabellotta for lunch. This is the typical Sicilian countryside. Caltabellotta has been identified with the ancient town of the Sicani Triocala, captured by the Romans in 99 BC. After the fall of the Western Roman Empire and several centuries under the Byzantine Empire, it was stormed by the Arabs, who later built here a castle. In 1090 it was conquered by the Normans  of Roger of Sicily. Restaurant lunch and then reach Selinunte for a guided tour of the “Collina Orientale”, home of many temples and of the Acropolis. Settle in the Marsala Region, hotel check-in, dinner and overnight.


Hotel breakfast. Full day escursion to Eryx and Segesta with lunch included. Segesta was one of the major cities of the Elymian people, one of the three indigenous native groups of Sicily. The other major cities of the Elymians were Eryx and Entella. Eryx is mentioned by Virgil and other Latin poets as a mountain of the first order of magnitude, and associated with Athos, , Aetna, etc. On its summit stands a celebrated temple of Venus or Aphrodite, founded, according to the current legend, by Aeneas. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

18° day MARSALA

Hotel breakfast. Full day escursion to explore Marsala and the Marsala Area. Marsala located in the Province of Trapani in the westernmost part of Sicily. The town is famous for the docking of Garibaldi on 11 May 1860 (the Expedition of the Thousand) and for its sweet Marsala wine. A feature of the area is the Natural Reserve called Stagnone Lagoon - a marine area with salt ponds. Marsala is built on the ruins of the ancient Carthaginian city of Lilybaion, and its territory includes the archaeological site of Motya island, an ancient Phoenician town. Lunch is included. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight.


Hotel breakfast. Transfer to Palermo airport in time for your flight home, via Rome. End of Services.
